How It All Started

Closeted History isn't just a podcast; it's an exploration into the hidden stories and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. It was 2022, and I was working as an educational consultant, helping teachers integrate LGBTQ+ inclusive lessons and practices into their classrooms. As a way to see what history was already out there, I started hosting LGBTQ+ History Fridays every week.

What I uncovered was a glaring absence of LGBTQ+ history in mainstream education. Even as educators, we lacked the necessary resources to impart this crucial knowledge in our classrooms. This realization fueled my passion to create a podcast that would fill this void.

Our mission is clear: to illuminate the hidden stories of our world. Countless LGBTQ+ individuals from the past lived and loved, their narratives echoing our own. Their stories deserve to be shared, serving as a reminder of our shared humanity to our community.
